Hot Wheels Yur So Fast on the cutting edge!

This Hot Wheels car is named "Yur So Fast" and, according to the Hot Wheels Wikia, it was somewhat inspired by the Ferrari Sergio.  This car has a sharp look.

If you'd like to see a Ferrari Sergio, here is one from the 2015 Geneva autoshow:

I can see some similar lines, but the Hot Wheels Yur So Fast has a dual cockpit look with vented hoot.  It's obviously a front engine vehicle whereas the Ferrari is a mid-engine sports car.

Here is another Ferrari Sergio somewhere in California traffic:

I think I would emphasize that the Hot Wheels car is "loosely" based on the Ferrari.  I don't see too many similarities.  Both are cool cars, but only one can be bought for a $1.

Hot Wheels 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 vs. Camaro

I enjoy matching my Hot Wheels cars against real cars.  This Hot Wheels Ford Mustang Mach 1 looks like it could hold its own against a more modern pony car - the Chevy Camaro.

Of course, today's muscle cars handle much better than the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s.

This Ford does not handle on rails!

Hot Wheels Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe at the Garage

Here is my Hot Wheels Shelby Daytona Cobra pulling into the garage area after an exciting day of wet pavement driving.

Hot Wheels Shelby Daytona Cobra hits the garage
The Shelby Cobra was an amazing car.  It was based on shoe-horning an American V-8 into fancy British coachwork.  The Shelby Daytona Cobra couple was created to beat the fastest Ferrari race cars of the day in the 24 Hours of LeMans and other prestigious FIA races.   It was created by Carroll Shelby.  He was a design legend and was renowned for making fast cars.

Check out The Carroll Shelby Story by Caroll Shelby on Amazon.com to read his autobiography.  This Hot Wheels "Real Riders" rendition of the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe is particularly cool because it has real rubber tires and lots of detailed decals.

M2 Machines - 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda

When the perfect opportunity comes along to take a great snapshot, you have to take it.  When I parked beside this silver Dodge Challenger, I knew I had to use it in a picture.  Fortunately, I had this die-cast M2 Machines 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda riding in my center console.  The rest is history.

You can really see the amazing family resemblance between today's MOPAR pony car and the old Plymouth HEMI Cuda diecast model.  Well done Chrysler and well done M2 Machines!

Hot Wheels All Stars 1973 Ford Falcon XB

This 1973 Ford Falcon XB is part of the Hot Wheels All Stars collection from 2010.  I love this first picture because I was able to make it look like it was parked in front of a row of stores.  This style of photography is called "forced perspective" photography.  The undisputed master of this style is a photography by the name of Michael Paul Smith who incorporates dioramas and real backgrounds.  You can see more of his style in this Petapixel article.

I'm much more casual with my die-cast car photography, but it is fun to show off interesting landmarks as backdrops.  For example, below this Ford Falcon XB takes a visit to the Cobb Energy Center in suburban Atlanta.  This location served as the Centers for Disease Control in the popular television series "The Walking Dead."  Fortunately, there don't seem to be any zombies on the loose now!

If the 1973 Ford Falcon XB's lines don't immediately trigger memories for American car enthusiasts, don't be alarmed.  This is an Australian hot rod.  It is most famous as the car from the movie - Mad Max

As the last of the V-8 Interceptors, the Mad Max version of the 1973 Ford Falcon XB had a 351-cubic inch (5.8 liter) V-8.  In the movie, it also had a super-charger for more power.

If you haven't seen Mad Max, you need to do so---posthaste and immediately.  It's a great movie!

Hot Wheels 1966 Ford Fairlane GT

This Hot Wheels 1966 Ford Fairlane GT captures the long, sleek, and powerful essence of a classic muscle car.  According to Wikipedia, the Ford Fairlane GT had a 390 cubic inch V-8!  A car like this one the big muffler rice rockets seem kind of weak!

Hot Wheels Photography Tip:  For taking this photo, I looked for a dark surface that could pass for a road.  I found a dark trash can by a pool that I visit.

Poolside with the Hot Wheels Monoposto

Happy New Year!  We're kicking this relaunched blog with a wicked fast Hot Wheels car - The Monoposto.  It's a single seat hot rod that was first introduced in 2001.  This beautiful blue model was sold in 2011 and looks great by the Pool.

Hot Wheels Monoposto
I love the fact that this car has a driver molded into the seat.  Ever since I was a kid, I wondered how empty Hot Wheels cars could drive themselves.  Unrealistic I thought from time to time!

You never see single-seat cars on the road.  But, these would be really cool looking in real life!

Hot Wheels Photography Tip:  Try to pick a background that complements the colors of the car.  Mirrored surfaces also reflect the car and provide a cool effect.  Here I used the top of a stainless steel grill.
