Matchbox 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood: The Cadillac of Summer

The Matchbox 2019  MBX Roadtrip '55 Cadillac Fleetwood has to be the official Cadillac of Summer.  It's a pink dream parked alongside a tasty treat from Baskin-Robbins.  It is the perfect pink Cadillac to conjure up the Ghost of Elvis and the good times we've been missing this Covid kaboshed summer.

This car is very nicely detailed for a Matchbox car with hot pink colors set off with serious tires and rims.  It's number 15 out of the 20 car MBX Road Trip series and car 11 out of 100 for 2019.  This Cadillac may be pink, but it is perfect for any collection of little die-cast cars.

Armor has evolved since the days of the Sherman tank.  This is the much more modern Matchbox M1A1 Abrams main battle tank.  In real life, it's an amazing vehicle.

Matchbox Freightliner M2 106 Fire Truck (Pumper)

Matchbox fire trucks are fun to collect.  I think they bring the kid out in every collector.  As a child, fire trucks and police cars were the most dramatic cars in any Matchbox collection.

The current Matchbox Heroic Rescue Series offers plenty of cool fire trucks.  The latest fire truck in my collection is this Matchbox Freightliner M2 106.  This is a very realistic looking die-cast truck.  I like the tires and the detail of the paint job.

This truck is number 60 out of 125 in the MBX Heroic Rescue series.  I was fortunate to find mine in a Dollar Tree.

This truck looks very good against a line of brush.  I could see it rushing to a typical California brush fire.

Matchbox Jaguar E-Type Coupe

This is my Matchbox Jaguar E-Type Coupe.  It's a great looking rendition of a classic.  The E-type was made between 1961 and 1975 and is generally considered one of the most beautiful sports cars of all time.

As cool as this car looks, you have to see my very best picture of it.  This is the coolest Jaguar photo that I ever took!

Matchbox Cadillac Escalade

Thanks to Matchbox, you don't have to get a big NFL contract to roll with a Cadillac Escalade.  This Cadillac Escalade fits in a jacket pocket!  As you can see from these photos.  The Pocket Escalade is just perfect for taking the gang over to P.F. Chang's or our place by the lake.

Diecast Photography Tip

It's fun to try and take a pictures of Matchbox cars with something interesting in the background.  In this case, I was able to capture a fountain in the background.

I recently took a cab to the airport.  The cab I chose was my Matchbox City Action Ford Transit Connect Taxi.  If I was a teeny-tiny person with teeny-tiny luggage, it would have been the perfect choice.

This 1:64 scale car is from a 2010 set and was car 59 out of 100.  I actually did take the shot above from the taxi stand at Orlando International Airport.  I set the car on a garbage can and was able to force the perspective to look just right with the control tower in the background.

I also took a couple of shots of the taxi from inside the departure area before checking my bag.  The vast expanse of counter area provided a nice smooth surface for some photography.

Matchbox VW Karmann Ghia Convertible

Sometimes the least expensive cars are the most fun.  For example, this Matchbox VW Karmann Ghia has personality in spades.  It also has lots of nice detail for such an inexpensive toy.
