My Matchbox 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE

When it comes to classic British cars, Matchbox does a pretty good job.  This is their die-cast rendition of the 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE.  In real life, this classic car would probably cost around $100,000 and--in show condition--it might cost more.  However, I found this version at Dollar Tree for the fantastic price of only $1.

This car gives me the chance to enjoy the look of the long sleek bonnet and the curvaceous body.  Unlike many of today's 1:64 scale cars, it has a presence and a quiet dignity that eschews gaudy decals and decoration.  This may well be the classiest Matchbox car remaining in my collection.

Peering through the windows, I was delighted to find that this model featured the right-hand drive configuration favored in the U.K.  It's a little detail and it's a pleasant surprise.

Matchbox Jaguar E-Type Coupe

This is my Matchbox Jaguar E-Type Coupe.  It's a great looking rendition of a classic.  The E-type was made between 1961 and 1975 and is generally considered one of the most beautiful sports cars of all time.

As cool as this car looks, you have to see my very best picture of it.  This is the coolest Jaguar photo that I ever took!

This is a really neat Jaguar E-type Coupe from Matchbox. It's a great looking car that captures all the curves and sensuality of the real car.  I was fortunate to be able to take this picture and capture it perfectly.

Matchbox Photography Tip

When you aren't trying to document the features of the model itself, it's important to take die-cast car photos in interesting settings that evoke the spirit of the car.  I posed this picture on the hood of an old Jaguar XJ sedan at my local thrift store's car dealership.  I was also careful to get reflections of the clouds and the leaping Jaguar hood ornament instead of the car dealership signs.  It's definitely my coolest Jaguar picture ever.
