Hot Wheels Track Ripper Photos

I recently added this Hot Wheels Track Ripper to my collection.  It is part of the 2019 Speed Blur series of cars.

I'm not sure what inspired this car.  I see elements of a variety of cars.  But, the Track Ripper definitely looks right at home in front of this aging garage.

The paint job on this little car reminds me of the paint found in spy photos of the latest test mules and concept cars from Detroit.  I do think that the blue plastic bumpers detract from the overall look.  But, it's a cool car.

Hot Wheels: 1964 Chevy Chevelle

This little Hot Wheels car has captured my photographic attention lately.  It is a Hot Wheels '64 Chevy Chevelle SS, specifically the 2019 Speed Blur 10/10 [Teal] 62/250 edition. It's a nice looking retro car with a powerful engine rising from the hood. Here are a few photos that I've taken of it lately.

Here it is on the cover of Once upon a WolfPack, an anthology of short stories put together by The WolfPackAuthors, a group of up and coming writers.  As an introduction to these writers, the book is free here for Amazon Kindle. You can follow them on twitter at #WolfPackAuthors.

One thing that I like about this car is the chrome grill.  It's got an old time shine.

This die-cast car definitely looks good when it has a moment in the sun.  The red lines around the tires really contribute to the retro look.

[2025 Update:  Amazingly as of August 2025, you can still go here to Amazon for the Hot Wheels 2019 Speed Blur Chevy Chevelle SS.]

Hot Wheels Surf 'n Turf Visits Rome

Sometimes a hot car begs to be taken on the open road.  In my case, a Hot Wheels Surf 'N Turf hitched a ride to Rome.  Here it is at the base of a column at the famed mall of Rome.

The Surf 'N Turf can ride any wave with a smooth surface.  In this case, the speedy Hot Wheels is hanging ten on an ancient bench.  It's interesting the way the flat purple primer paint job subtly seems to change color depending on the light.

Finally, we reached out destination:  the fabled Labyrinth of Rome.  Did I mention that we roamed to Rome, Georgia?  It's the affordable local Rome.

Welly Maserati GranTurismo Pull Back Car Model

I recently encountered this nice looking little Maserati GranTurismo on the shelves of my local grocery store.  It's just a little pull back toy car, but it's a rather exotic looking little model.

Welly Die-cast 1/24 scale Mercedes 300SL

If you ever need a Mercedes 300SL for a trip to the beach, one of our area RiteAid stores had one conveniently located on the seasonal aisle with all the sandcastle building buckets and pales.

Welly 1/24 scale Mercedes 300SL
Available as a production car from 1954 through 1963, the Mercedes 300SL made reputation as a high performance marque.

The original Mercedes 300SL was powered by a 3.0 liter straight 6.  While there were a host of mechanical eccentricities--such as 1000 mile oil change intervals--the Mercedes 300SL was capable of 160 miles per hour back in 1954.  It was the fastest production car of its era.

A peek through the gullwing door reveals that the Welly rendition shows a vintage interior and the gear shift for the 4-speed manual transmission.

This is a fun little model for the collector who likes his toys to be toys.

Diecast 1963 Ford Thunderbird and King Kong

Sometimes I'll find interesting die-cast cars in a local thrift store.  Most of them are beat up and have been played with by lots of kids.  I generally leave them so that someone can enjoy a toy.  However, sometimes, you just have to take a photograph of an interesting combination of what I believe is a 1:18 scale 1963 Ford Thunderbird and King Kong.

Johnny LIghtning 1976 Chevy Camaro

This is my Johnny Lightning 1976 Chevrolet Camaro.  It's a nicely done die-cast car.  But, this version of the Camaro and these colors make for a very understated by Muscle Car.

Of course, in 1976 there was a fuel crisis and all the cars of the day were just being strangled by emission controls.

In 1976 the Chevy Camaro had a great sales year.  There were V-6 and V-8 options available.

Horsepower was down from the late 1960s and early 1970s.  But, they were cool cars!
