Drug Store Diecast Car: Aston Martin DB5

This is an Aston Martin DB5 model that I played around with one evening in a CVS Drug Store. These models often appear on the shelves in some configuration or another. While the prices have been climbing, these little pull-back cars are much less expensive than highly detailed diecast models from other manufacturers. That makes them fun to actually play with.

Why do we want to play with a model Aston Martin DB5?

It's simple. This IS the James Bond Car! The Aston Martin DB5 is synonymous with James Bond, This sleek, silver grand tourer first appeared in Goldfinger (1964), where Sean Connery’s Bond debuted its gadget-laden glory, complete with ejector seat and machine guns. The DB5 returned in Thunderball (1965), reinforcing its status as 007’s ultimate ride. After a long absence, it reappeared in GoldenEye (1995) with Pierce Brosnan, blending nostalgia with modern flair. The car made brief but memorable cameos in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). Daniel Craig’s Bond brought the DB5 back in Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012)—where it met a fiery end—and Spectre (2015), with a rebuilt version. Most recently, No Time to Die (2021) showcased its enduring legacy with high-octane action. A die-cast Aston Martin DB5, with  detailed craftsmanship and pull-back action, this car lets fans relive these cinematic moments. From Goldfinger to No Time to Die, this model embodies the DB5’s timeless Bond connection, making it a prized collectible for enthusiasts.

Where can I get one?

Usually, these drugstore die-cast models are made by Welly or Kinsmart. However, I found an awfully similar model on Amazon.com by a company called Tirrito. I think it is the exact same car. It's 1/38 scale, it has opening doors, and rubber tires, and it gets good reviews.
